    On the 12th of July 2014 I painted on the back of the draught-screen panel (Bretagne-paintings) a danseuse stopping a big ball of fire. Inside the ball I wrote Maidan (Kiev, Ukraine). The painting is not in Holland at the moment.

  • BINIOU & BOMBARDE

    Another beautiful Nouvelle: I went to Isabelle & Delphine to ask who the two musicians of EN-ARWEN on my linoprint were. "Mais c'est le Maire de Mûr de bretagne qui joue le bombarde!" Mûr de Bretagne is a Breton village, well known by its beauty and the Tour de France.

  • GWENN DU JOLI COEUR

    Our beautiful Great Swiss Dog Gwenn du Joli Coeur is eleven weeks old now. The colours of her 'poiles' are magnificent. She will be painted.

    On the back of the painting on wood ' En Berry' (85x155) I painted a danseuse bretonne holding a lantern in her hand on which I wrote: mon ami Slawa Shashkov. He, saxofonist and clarinetist who played all over the world, died 18 April in Chelyabinsk.

  • EN-ARWEN

    Last summer I made a sketch of two artists of EN-ARWEN. These excellent Breton musicians who played the biniou and bombarde made an unforgettable impression so I started a linogravure. Sometimes it is very difficult to decide which part of the lino should be cut or not. It will always stay a challenge.

    With the help of my friend in Chelyabinsk the unknown thing at the painting 'The Market' of the painter Sorokin (the exhibition is still in Teylers Museum at this moment) is solved. It is a дуга (doegá), part of a horse-bridle. I showed the email with the informative pictures to the museumkeepers and some visitors who were all very enthousiastic about this way of sharing Art-information. After that: De Vishal where we saw the paintings for the auction next Sunday. At De Grote Markt: wine and 'bitterballen'. Our tradition after visiting an exhibition.

  • THE STONES-PAINTING IS 100%

    The painting of us (Stones) with our Leonberger dog Donna and chienne trouvée Joli Coeur (started in 2009) is now just as I want it to be. The background was not okay so I left it lying for 5 years. And then ... yes! Full of uncountable colours. Varnishing an acryllic painting is something wonderful. The colours become even more beautiful than they already were . . .

    Now, 04-26-2014, we celebrate our first Kingsday. A special occasion. That we can watch clearly (in Haarlem) from our typical Dutch car: the Daf32 (1967). Thousands of people, dressed in orange clothes. Many sketches were made today.

  • EASTER: WAR AND PEACE (film of Tolstoy) TEYLERS MUSEUM Война и Мир : Лев Толстой

    Today I saw the first part of the film WAR & PEACE (3,5 hours) in Teylers Museum. An amazing, beautiful story of  Lev Tolstoy. To-morrow the 2nd part. And again I examined the paintings of De Romantische Ziel. On the painting of Sorokin there are some unknown things. Nobody can explain what they are so an email to my Russian friend in Chelyabinsk shall clearify this, I am sure. The exhibition in Teylers is really worth a visit!

  • FRANS HALS, REMBRANDT EN VINCENT

    Yesterday I visited the Frans Hals Museum & Historisch Museum Kennemerland to see the exhibition of Kenau.

    Today Rijksmuseum Amsterdam: Rembrandts Nachtwacht (Nightwatch) and his Claudius Civilis of The Royal Swedish Academy (Nationalmuseum Stockholm). Van Gogh Museum: lecture about Felix Vallotton (Nabis) and of course Vincents Paintings. But . . . his painting The Yellow House (La Maison Jaune) was not there. This painting is in Arles now for the opening of the 'Fondation Van Gogh'. This new museum shall be opened on the 4th of April by the president of France, Monsieur Hollande.

  • MÀXIMA IS COMING!

    The little painting (13x18 oilpainting on wood) is finished. I started the painting in 2011 when princess Màxima came to Haarlem to 'Stem in de Stad' where she was welcomed by Jurjen Beumer, the maire of Haarlem Bernt Schneiders and the commissioner of (then) Queen Beatrix: Mr.Remkes. Because I was too busy with the paintings for the chapel Notre Dame de La Paix in Le pouldu I didnot have time to go on with it. Now, after three years (in the meantime Màxima has become queen), the painting is finally finished.
