  • THE LITTLE BROWN BOOK

    A visit just now to 'The Guardian of Mill 'De Adriaen', Henk Vijn. Thanks to Henk, this mill (the pride of Haarlem) at canal Het Spaarne, was rebuilt again. The Little Brown Book has become even more interesting to-day.

    Nearby there is a special building, a former musicschool where my brothers, sister and I followed musiclessons for eight years. From the rear window of Henk's house I saw the huge building of my former American employer, Fluor. After the visit: a check if the orange-blue mosaic-tile still lies in the grass there.

  • PONT-AVEN & CORNEILLE

    "What are you wearing around your neck, une amulette?" Corneille asked me in 2003 at the Cobra Museum. "It's the Gwenn ha Du, le drapeau de Bretagne", I said. Then we talked some more about France and the women he painted. He wished me: 'dag in dag uit et longue vie'. At this moment there is a Cobra exhibition in Pont-Aven, Bretagne.

  • ON THE ROOF OF MUSEUM 'SHIP' IN THE HARBOUR OF IJMUIDEN

    After a picture was taken for the IJmuider Courant on the roof of Museum SHIP, we went back inside to attach a.o. the poem Woud van Staal (Forest of Steel) to the window. The poem is about Tata-Steel / Hoogovens*. In the 80-ies I made several Cad/Cam-drawings for *De Co

  • TEYLERS LORENTZ LAB

    Standing near the amazing Grote Electriseermachine in Teylers Museum where Einstein, Napoleon and the Tsar were standing too, is a real previlege. On the bureau of Lorentz was the same sort of inktcushion I use (19th century, Mûr de Bretagne). After explaining my 15 and 17 year old grandchildren what sort of cushion it was, I promised them to write and draw with east-indian ink (my daily joy).

  • REMBRANDT & TROMPE L'ŒIL

    At the Frans Hals Museum I admired Rembrandts 'Brillenverkoper'. A small but beautiful painting. At the same exhibition a Trompe l'œil fascinated me so I am going again to the museum (I love going on my bike in Haarlem) to look more closely.

  • LA LIBERTÉ, LA PAIX AND SPACE TRAVEL

    At the 4th of October 2007 at the Telemost-conference (Posthoornkerk) Piet Smolders and André Kuipers both wrote a wish  in the book that was written by Piet. One of his amazing photographs gave me an idea for the background of the new acryllic 13x18.
