PAINTINGS OF & FOR THE PEOPLE

For the painting I am working on now (in the C. atelier) the background is not easy. I use my little books in which I made hundreds of very small drawings while traveling through Normandy and Breizh. Although I painted Lénaïk twice, her portrait with The Statue (for the people in the city & in the Foyer Logement Belle Etoile) is different. And so it should be, I think. For every human being changes. The doll is painted a bit bigger: she shall play a more important roll in our rapidly changing world.

MAKING WASHINGS

The subject for the washing I am going to make in a now almost empty and sad Belcanto was born yesterday. The Doll has changed into one of the most loving creatures. Or was She that already?

DRAWING THE MH17 MONUMENT SURROUNDED BY A RESTING RAINBOW OF FLOWERS

Thousands of sunflowers: amazingly beautiful. Did you see your favourite flowers too, V.?

Lots of vases filled with all sorts of now heavenly weathering flowers surrounded The Eye-MH17-monument. After reading the names on The Eye (also of Quint, Pijke & family) and just experiencing this very emotional spot in Vijfhuizen, Anne & I made sketches, bister- and aquarel-drawings. All afternoon we stayed there hardly speaking. We shall definatily return to see how the trees (one for every victim) have grown.

JE MAINTIENDRAI

That is how the new subject is called in Schrijfsels, the bulletin of our proza & poëzie association. Thanks to Johan van Beem, (who inspired me) the brave resistance man who lived in our house.

NEW APARTMENT BLOCK HAARLEM

Only a mile away from our house a flat is being built with 160 apartments. The strange thing is: the building looks véry much like the painting I made of School no.1 in 2008.

MH17 MONUMENT

To-morrow the MH17 Monument shall be revealed in Vijfhuizen, the village where my mother was born , by King Willem Alexander & Queen Máxima.

MONOPRINTS IN DE LOODS

Several artists/friends came to work in my atelier. After discussing our latest art-news an ideas we decided to make monoprints in oilpaint. A good day, good work.

TOWNHALL BRITTANY

The new 13x18 with Jacques of DBK (the way I saw him with his long hair), V. & the child, the house and our dogs is exhibited in the townhall (Ti Kêr) in Kleg. The town is getting quite famous by the EN ARWEN festival.

SIZE 13x18

Painting, while holding a new, little tableau of 13x18 is (for me) a pleasant way to paint. The big canvas had to wait because I couldnot resist making another little painting of V. and his child. When I was in Pont-Aven I discovered a special, partly hidden object (who is the owner?) in the harbour which reminded me, even in Breizh, of my dear friends who live at a distance of 5000 km.
