The painting of us, sitting at the bottom of the empty Lac de the Guerlédan, is almost finished. The Lake is still being filled up again and the fish are put back. An enormous job for the Bretons. The painting shall be varnished when the lake is filled 100%.

HAARLEM TOWNHALL / MAIRIE

The little painting has been exhibited at the office of the mayor for a year. To-day I went to collect it and to see the exhibition of the KZOD 'Ontworteld', which is in De Kloostergangen, townhall.

MAIRIE DE MÛR DE BRETAGNE

On the backside of the little painting (Mairie de Mûr de Bretagne) I had painted us (with our dogs), sitting on the ruins of écluse No. 127, at the bottom of the empty Lake Guerlédan. I also wrote 'acryllic' on backside of the tableau. For sometimes you cannot see the difference between an oil and an acryllic painting. The huge Lac de Guerlédan is being filled up again at this moment and fish put back. Merci cousine Sylvie for making pictures of this historical, Breton paysage.

MUNCH & VINCENT: VAN GOGH MUSEUM

The paintings of Edvard Munch and Vincent van Gogh were very good exhibited. Was Munch also inspired by Paul Gauguin? On one of Munch's paintings a man looked like Meijer de Haan (the way Gauguin painted him).

At 'our' Teylers Museum Anne & I made a dry needle etching. I took one of the ivory (bought at Emmaus, Rédené) Mother Mary pictures as example. Anne: a sumi-e picture. Thank you, Lonneke!

Seventy years ago . . . Truus Menger - Oversteegen, Freddie Oversteegen, Sybrand Buma (Tweede Kamer), the female choir 'Malle Babbe' of Leny van Schaik, The Royal Choir Zang en Vriendschap of which my dear father was a member for more than 40 years, Jim Bakkum of the musical 'Het Meisje met het Rode Haar' was singing. (My grandfather Sjoerd was called 'Bavo' when he was a prisonner of war at the Oranjehotel) An unforgettable event in the Bavokerk, Haarlem. Merci, Truus & Freddie for writing in The Little Brown Book!

While I was standing at this beautiful square, drawing one of the houses that attracted my attention, a lovely cat came lying down on my left foot. I managed to take a photograph of it. My husband approached me and said: "look at the cat what is it doing? It looks as if it is protecting you ".
