Le Maître Caché MEIJER DE HAAN

Still no real news about the paintings which were stolen from De Kunsthal, Rotterdam.

In 2010 Meijer de Haans paintings were exposed in the JHM, Amsterdam. The exhibiton (I was there two times) was called: Le Maître Caché. Now, unfortunately, Meijers selfportrait is really caché. Not burnt . . ?!

NEDERLAND-RUSLAND 400' IS FINISHED

But . . .  it has become a funny painting, not at all serious.

All the ingredients are there: the Bavo-church, the poet, the matrjoshkas (the first, classic matrjoshka standing next to Frans Hals), Brittany, Wodka, Jopen Bier, 'Teylertje' etc.

Better title: Nederland-Rusland-Haarlem?!

NEDERLAND - RUSLAND 400 YEARS

Голландия - Россия 400 лет: За ваше здоровье! Наконец-то: after being very busy with the next exhibition I found the time to make a drawing of our 400 years together.

My inspiration: yesterday I visited the exhibition 'Acht Fantastische Dagen' in the Zaans Museum, about Peter The Great (Петр Великий). There I bought the book: In de Spiegel  (в зеркале). After that: the Tsar Peter House (дом царя Петра) where I sat in the bedstead of this tall Russian man. The little notes people had written a long time ago on the wooden walls were very interesting. A pity it was not allowed to add one myself.

NELSON MANDELA

To-day I found an entry ticket of the Cultural Night South Africa 14 juni 1988 of my son's old school, at that moment temporary called Nelson Mandela School. In 2010, L., my namesake and employee of Nelson Mandela, sent me (on request) a beautiful photo of Nelson. He, an example for every human being, is in one of my paintings. Born, like my mother, in 1918; a strong generation.

BEFORE THE THRONE

The kiss I gave to one of the fuseliers before the throne of our new king was captured into a photograph and a poem ('Na de kroning' on this site) on the 1st of May 2013.

FRANS HALS MUSEUM 100 YEARS OLD

To-day I visited (last Saturday too) the Frans Hals Museum at its exact 100 th anniversary. The entrance fee was 100 cents, lovely (we are Dutch) ! It was great to see the paintings of Frans Hals, Rembrandt, Rubens and Titiaan together. There were not many visitors, so it was possible to quietly draw and sketch. After that: a visit and wine in café De Blauwe Druif (café Malle Babbe), the oldest pub in Haarlem. Going home on my e-bike I dropped in at the local radiostation Haarlem 105, where I could speak in the microphone directly to the listeners and ask for the song of Matt Monroe for my Russian friends: 'From Russia with love'. The celebration of Nederland - Rusland 400 years is a fascinating item!

To-day I am very busy sketching and drawing the coronation ceremony in Amsterdam of our new King, Willem Alexander and his wife Queen Màxima. How breathtaking beautiful they and their three little daughters look.
