    When Resa (5) and I entered the Tweede Fossielenzaal of Teylers two days ago, she immediately showed me the carcas of a cavebear. "And now I'll show you the eggs of a dinosaur". Amazing, for so many times I had already visited Teylers but never noticed what this little girl showed me. In the restaurant we watched the Watteau greenscreen film of the Coornhert Lyceum, Thirza's college. Resa and I went home, very happy, with our selfmade dino.

  • HERMITAGE AMSTERDAM

    Anne & I went by train to the opening of the exhibition 'Romanovs & Revolution'. From Central Station we walked to Waterloo Square where we had an interesting talk with one of the merchants about art and politics. After that we attended the lecture at the Hermitage- Auditorium of Mrs. Helen Rappaport about the four Romanov sisters. The tragedy of The Romanovs is news in every newspaper in the world at this moment. Talking Russian with Helen while she signed my book was a real pleasure.

  • OUR HOUSE IN WWII

    Two weeks ago, Hans, the son of Johan van Beem (who was a member of the Dutch Resistance-movement during WWII) entered after more than 70 years his parental home, the house we're living in now.

    His father, Johan van Beem, was not only courier of Je Maintiendrai and Het Parool but also took care of the distribution of ration-coupons.

  • LA PAIX

    The lino-cut for 'La Paix' is finished. the hand of Lénaïk, holding the Statue of Liberty and The Doll are printed (in different colours on different sorts of paper). I didnot add '2017' because there is no limit to our wish of peace.

  • WOODCUT IN WING OF A CORN-MILL

    A drawing (I am preparing a woodcut) is made. The drawing shall be carved in the wood of a mill-wing. The wings of 'our' corn-mill De Zandhaas (1779) are renovated a few months ago.

  • THE PEAR (LA POIRE)

    The famous pear (Le Pays du Chistr Per) is painted on the back of the breton-blue Dutch trainsleeper (which is placed above a window to protect it against the huge stones which are resting on it). The pear is enjoying the view of the Breton valley.
