Beatrix Koningin
12 januari 2013Painting our Royal Highness Queen Beatrix, who will celebrate her 75th birthday soon, was a real pleasure. My grandchildren and I also made a little poem for the queen and the 200th anniversary this year of our kingdom. My little granddaughter Resa (1) made a little painting of/for our queen

Le Pouldu
17 oktober 2012Last Friday, the 12th of October 2012, I had a rendez-vous in Le Pouldu (next to the memorial of Paul Gauguin, Meyer de Haan and other painters who lived and worked in this lovely Breton village) in the chapel Notre Dame de la Paix (Holy Mother of Peace) about my project 'Vincent van Gogh and The Beslan Child'. The little drawings (8x8cm) and oilpaintings (13x18cm) will be exposed in this beautiful Peace-chapel in 2013. When I passed this chapel several years ago I felt that this would be the ideal location for my project. It was amazing to find out the name of the chapel: Holy Mother of Peace. The combination of project and chapel remind me of Tolstoy's book: War and Peace.

Ti Joli Coeur
19 september 2012Painted in insulair half uncials: TI JOLI COEUR (which is the name of our house). Varnished with 3V3. The size of the tableau is 80x16 cm.
My former favorite employer Fluor (I worked there during 20 years) is going to move to Hoofddorp. In January I shall make a mosaic tile 30x30 cm which will be placed near the building at the Schalkwijkerweg where Fluor started its businesses in Haarlem.

Drawing/sketching in Spaarndam
4 september 2012For to-morrow I arranged a drawing/sketching-meeting with other painters (from Haarlem + Velsen) in Spaarndam (Hans Brinker saved this village from a flood by putting his finger in a fissure in the dyke).
One of the three village-donkeys sometimes lies on

2nd World War Torgau - Haarlem
21 augustus 2012Last Thirsday I visited my very special 99 year old aunt, born in Friesland. We talked, as usual, about the 2nd worldwar when my father (her brother) was a prisoner of war in Torgau (during which he met his unforgettable Russian friend Alex from Orël). She sent him many parcels and letters full of hope for which he has been very greatfull his whole life. My aunt died Saturday.

Amazing . . .
2 augustus 2012In June I received an invitation of 'Friends of The Hermitage Amsterdam' to join the opening of the exhibition IMPRESSIONISM. On the invitation: a photo of Jeanne Samary, painted by Renoir. Exactly ten years ago (June 2002) I met Vlasova, the museumkeeper in the Hermitage St. Petersburg where she was standing next to this painting. We then discussed Renoir and THIS painting (see below 28 march).

Pont-Aven
13 juni 2012La Nuit (des Musées) in Le Musée de Pont-Aven was very special. Also the Breton music of Ruz Reor in La Salle Julia. Many visitors joined in, dancing the Gavotte. What a place to be! The museum will soon be closed for two years. I had taken some acrylpaint with me so I was able to paint the 'A' of Ajoncs on my little painting. Merci mon ange! We slept in our 30 year old T3 camper just before the mill of the Bois d'Amour. How lovely to sit on one of the huge stones making sketches. The next day we went to Le Pouldu and Clohars Carnoët where I met the sympathetic maire Jacques Juloux.
